9 Bollywood Films Set To Release on Hotstar, Prime, Netflix

Dil Bechara (Disney+ Hotstar)

Last film of the late actor, Shushant Singh Rajput, Dil Bechara is set to release on the popular streaming platform on July 24. The film is an adaptation of the popular English movie, The Fault in Our Stars which is based on a novel of the same name.It depicts a heartening love story which will hopefully delight the audience. With many beautiful moments that will make you smile through the tears as the trailer suggests, it would particularly be hear-breaking for Rajput’s many friends, family and fans. The emerging star’s suicide around a month ago had left many of his close aides and millions of fans in a shock who are still trying to understand what made the late actor to take his own life. The Manny and Kizie love-story also features Sanjana Sangi in the lead opposite Rajput and Saif Ali Khan in a supporting role.

Khuda Haafiz (Disney+ Hotstar)

The Faruk Kabir directorial stars Vidyut Jammwal and Shivaleeka Oberoi in the lead roles. The romantic drama film is loosely based on a real-life love story. The plot has an interesting setting across various locations in Kerala, Morocco and Uzbekistan. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Khuda Haafiz film makers also had to skip a traditional release in country’s theatres. It is also set to release on Disney+ Hotstar now.

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (Netflix)

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is yet another addition to the long list of Bollywood biopics in the recent times. It depicts the life journey of Indian’s first woman Air Force officer. The flight lieutenant was also the first woman to pilot a Cheetah Helicopter during the 1999 Kargil War. The upcoming biopic features Jhanvi Kapoor playing the role of Saxena. Moreover, it also features Pankaj Tripathi, Manav Vij, Angad Bedi and Viineet Kumar Singh in important roles. The film was originally scheduled to release in the theatres on March 13, 2020. However, the release was postponed following the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown. However, now the film will be released directly on Netflix. The Vidya Balan starrer biopic, “Shakuntala Devi: The Human Computer” depicts the story of famous Indian mathematician Shakuntala Devi. Sharing about her role in the film, Vidya Balan recently tweeted, “She was extraordinary, in every sense of the word!” The second biopic on our list also had to skip a theatrical release and would now be releasing on Amozon Prime Video. However, there have been no updates on by when can we expect the Prime release.

The Big Bull (Disney+ Hotstar)

The biographical crime drama, The Big Bull features Abhishek Bachchan, Ileana D’Cruz and Nikita Dutta in the lead roles.  The plot of the film is based on the story of stockbroker Harshad Mehta. The film highlights the financial crimes Mehta committed in a span of more than a decade.

Sadak 2 (Disney+ Hotstar)

The upcoming Mahesh-Bhatt directorial features Sanjay Datt, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Pooja Bhatt in pivotal roles. It is a sequel to the 1991 classic, Sadak. The film picks the plotline from the previous film of the series. It revolves around a depression patient helping a girl in unmasking a fake guru. Notably, the film will also mark the return of Mahesh Bhattas a director after two decades. The Sadak 2 director was recently reported talking to media outlets about the film’s online release. Bhatt was quoted saying, “I am compelled to come on the digital platform because I don’t see any light in the near future. This is the best I can do to survive. There are certain things that you do, not out of choice but out of compulsion. This is the only option left. It is a no-brainer.”

Lootcase (Disney+ Hotstar)

Lootcase is an upcoming Bollywood comedy-drama revolving around the lives of its two protagonistsafter they come across an unknown suitcase. The film features Rasika Dugal and Kunal Khemu in the lead roles. Moreover, it also stars Ranvir Shorey with Vijay Raaz in supporting roles. The movie is now set to release on Disney+ Hotstar owing to the pandemic.

Lakshmi Bomb (Disney+ Hostar)

The upcoming Akshay-Kumar starrer, Laxmmi Bomb is a horro-comedy. It is a remake of the 2011,Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana. The funny horror film is about a man who gets possessed by a transgender ghost. Moreover, the plot depicts the story of a ghost planning revenge after it is wronged by its family.  Promising both laughter and goose bumps,the film also features Kiara Advani and Tusshar Kapoor. It was originally scheduled to release in the theatres on June 5, 2020 but will now be releasing on the OTT platform.

Bhuj: The Pride of India (Disney+ Hotstar)

The film features Ajay Devgan playing the role of Vijay Karnik,an Indian Air Force (IAF) Pilot Squadron Leader. The thriller has been set during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. Besides, the story of Karnik who was in-charge of the Bhuj airbase in Gujarat, it also depicts the valour of   300 women who helped the Indian Air Force. The women had played a significant role in the country’s victory. Notably, the cast of the film will also include Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Nora Fatehi, Ammy Virk and Sharad Kelkar.
