Another hint related to the release date came from U.S. telecoms Verizon which is reportedly due to issue the LG-built Nexus 5 rather belatedly. The availability of the Nexus 5 on Verizon is expected to bring down the suggested retail price of the smartphone with a mandatory contract agreement. This demonstrate that the Nexus 6 is soon going to be available in the market, based on a theory that when a soon-to-exit device is becoming more visible and witnessing significant slash in prices, then the replacement should be just around the corner. The Google Vice President said during the recently concluded 2014 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain that the new device would not be launched in the first half of 2014 by any means. It is believed that Google will preview its upcoming smartphone during Google’s annual I/O Developers Conference scheduled to be held from June 24 to 25 in San Francisco, California. Meanwhile, many are predicting that the company will instead show preview of Android 4.5 in the event and would showcase the first device featuring the vanilla mobile operating system. But before any showcase, Google is required to decide on which company – LG, Lenovo and Motorola – will manufacture the device that will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6. The Google Nexus 6 would be powered by a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon chip and will boast a 5.2-inch screen with Q-HD display panel and a 16MP rear cam shooter.
