Note that using the method below will require you to have installed the iOS 7 upgrade on your iPhone 5. You can read more about upgrading to iOS 7 here. Once your iPhone 5 is running iOS 7, you can follow the steps below to take a black-and-white picture with your iPhone 5.
Step 1: Open the Camera app.
Step 2: Touch the icon with the three circles at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Select the Mono option at the top-left corner of the screen.
