The WhatsApp Disappearing Messages Features will be made available for individual as well as group chats. Users can end messages that disappear on WhatsApp by enabling disappearing messages. Once the feature is enabled, new messages sent in the individual or group chat will disappear after seven days. Facebook has said that this setting won’t affect messages you previously sent or received in the chat. In an individual chat, users will have the choice of turning the disappearing messages either on or off. What will happen to the media in disappearing messages?
The images and videos received in WhatsApp will be automatically downloaded to your photos. In case the disappearing messages feature is turned on, media sent in the chat will disappear, but will be saved on the phone if auto-download is on. The new WhatsApp feature will also clear photos and videos after seven days, and even though the messages will disappear for both the sender as well as the recipient, it will still be possible for users to take screenshots or just simply copy messages before they are automatically deleted. Furthermore, if a disappearing message is forwarded to a chat with disappearing messages off, the message will not disappear in the forwarded chat. Also, if a user creates a backup before a message disappears, the disappearing message will be copied in the backup, but will be deleted when a user restores from a backup.
How to use WhatsApp Disappearing messages feature on Android and iOS smartphones:
Open the WhatsApp chat on your Android or iOS devices.Tap the contact’s name.Along with the contact’s information, you will also find an option of Tap Disappearing messages, right above the “Encryption” of the messages option.Once you have tapped on it, select on.It will switch on the disappearing messages option for the particular chat.
Follow these steps to switch off Disappearing Messages feature
Open the WhatsApp chat.Tap the contact’s name.Tap Disappearing messages.Select Off.
